About
A studio that ships its own Mac apps
Fore Studio started in 2020 doing what most small studios do, which was building other people's products. That paid the bills and taught us a lot, but the work always belonged to someone else. So we stopped taking client projects and started shipping our own: first on the web, and since 2026 on the Mac, which is where the studio lives now.
The Mac apps share a few habits. They do their work on your Mac, and what you say, type or play stays there. Each one does one job and does it well, because a small team can polish one job and not ten. And they are priced plainly, with the terms on the app's own site. There is no investor deck and no growth target. The measure is whether the thing is good enough that people pay for it and keep using it.
The apps
Flit turns speech into finished text while you are still speaking, and nothing you say leaves your Mac. Out now, with a seven-day free trial. Vitals is an Activity Monitor alternative: it groups every process under the app it belongs to, keeps up to a year of history, and lives in the menu bar. Out now, with a 14-day refund. Levers clears your screen before you record or share it, hiding the desktop, Dock, other apps and menu bar icons in one click, and puts it all back with one more; fifteen everyday Mac switches come with it. Out now, with a 14-day refund.
Two more are on the bench. SoundBar gives every app its own volume, in the notch. Rimlight records and edits screen demos entirely on device.
Also from the studio
MacBase is a free directory of the best Mac apps, where anyone can launch and list theirs; ours are on it too. It is a website, not an app: the place the Mac apps get found.
Before the Mac, the studio built for the web, and those products are still running: StartupBase, where makers launch products and find early adopters, AcquireBase, a marketplace for buying and selling side projects with no commission on a sale, and Emoji Anywhere, a free browser extension that puts :shortcode: emoji in every text field on the web.
Who is behind it
The studio is run by Atta Ur Rehman Shah, a software engineer who has been writing and shipping software for over a decade, and who builds the apps, answers the email and writes the release notes. You can find the work on GitHub, the running commentary on X, and the longer story at attacomsian.com.
